Cruiser -racing seminar at Kip

For all of us who are interested in racing at whatever level, however casual and are concerned about growing our clubs this should be a good meeting to come along to on the night before our AGM:

Come along to a Cruiser Racing Seminar on Tuesday 9 February 2016 at the Chartroom, Kip Marina at 7.00 pm.
The seminar will be presented by James Dadd, the new Director of the RORC Rating Office, and RYA Technical Manager Bas Edmonds.
The seminar is not just about IRC and not just about handicap racing – the overall theme is “Bringing more people to our sport”. James and Bas will cover all aspects of cruiser racing with the main objective being to encourage more people to come out and race more often.
Please come along; tell your friends, skippers and crews and bring them along as well; if you are involved in a club, please circulate your members and tell them about the seminar; the evening is open to all whether you are experienced or occasional racers, have never raced before but might want to or if you are simply interested in growing our sport.
There is no fee for attending and no need to register - just come along.

More details are on the RORC Rating Office website https://www.rorcrating.com/.../355-winter-seminar-2016. You can also contact James or Des Balmforth, Racing Secretary of CCC and the Scottish representative on the GBR IRC Committee (email desbalm@gmail.com), for more information.

Not the Sound of Jura

Where? At this time of year?

It's David Toy on board Exody, crewing for Peter and Marion on the south Atlantic leg of their circumnavigation. They left Cape Town on 6th January - that's Table Mountain in the background - and expect just one stop at St Helena in about two weeks. From there it's onwards to Salvador in Brazil in time for the carnival on the 5th Feb. It may look a bit West Coast grey but apparently the temperature there is 31 degrees.  We wish them all fair winds.
